HAPPY SUMMER TO ALL.  It is very, very muggy today but we all complain if it is too cold, too wet, too dry or too hot.  We have had some beautiful weekends this year and we are very thankful for that.  I hope everyone’s summer is full of fun, food and festivities.

We have given out two Farmingbury Woman’s Club scholarships, one to Ersilda Ajce and the other one to Morgan Gigliotti.  The Sylvia Russell Memorial Scholarship for Community Service was awarded to William George Ronalter II and our Sandra Lofgren Memorial Scholarship for Community Service was awarded to David J. Manuceri.  Kathy Newvine and her committee did a great job selecting the winners this year.

Our Pennies For Art donations go toward the awards won by the high school seniors for their various art works in the contest held by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs each year.  The contest is called Statewide Arts Festival for High School Seniors and Ruth DeLeo and Kathy Cosgrove were the chairladies for FWC this year.   Mrs. Stange, Wolcott High School art teacher, listed the students from WHS that participated in the contest:  Miranda Briggs, Gabrielle Coleman, Jeremiah Diaz, Michael Duguay, Christina Forte, Monica Gray, Brittany Johnson and Rebecca McKay.  Jeremiah Diaz won second place, $40.00 prize for his watercolor painting, “Doing The Boogie Woogie,  Monica Gray won second place, $40.00 prize for her color photography, “Emeralds” and Miranda Briggs won third place, $25.00, for her mixed media painting, “Teardrop Windows”.

We had a good turnout of members helping at the Wolcott Special Games.  The athletes really enjoyed participating and winning medals.  A great lunch, cooked by Lions members and packed by Farmingbury Women members was enjoyed by all.  Maryann Sharek was a clown again this year and we all enjoyed the day.

Several members participated in the Memorial Day Parade, riding and walking and throwing out candy along the way.  Fun was had by all, marching or watching.

Some of us also helped out at Wolcott High School when the robotics contest was held in June.  It is fascinating to see what the “kids” made and how their robots performed in the gym.  There were many teams from cities across Conn. and it was a fun day.
