HAPPY SPRING TO ALL CLUB MEMBERS The weather lately has
been warm and sunny and all the spring flowers and plants are in
bloom. Spring is a very special time of year so please enjoy it.
The month of April was one of the busiest ones our club has had
in a long time. On April 1st. we voted in our new officers for the 2008/2009
club year. Our new president is Pat Pytka, vice president is Nancy

DUES ARE DUE and according to our bylaws, May

not a member any more. Please get your $20.00 to Sharon Frigon, 26 Colman
Drive, Wolcott or bring your check to our installation banquet on May 6th.
April 4th was the first annual fund raiser for "Help Keep Your
Neighbors Warm". A fund has been set up to help our neighbors with a fuel
heating emergency next winter. Our spring fund raiser, An Art Auction, was
held on April 5th and it was a huge success. Many thanks go to Kathy Newvine
and Nancy Renner and their committee for the great job they did. On April 8th
several of us went to Waterbury Club's 119th birthday party Imagine 119 years
that club has been doing volunteer work in the Waterbury area. We had our
second annual Volunteer Recognition Day on April 12th. We had many more
people there this year than last year and Mary Kelly did a good job. The fire
department, ambulance corp, and CERT agency were honored. We had a wonderful
30th birthday/anniversary party at the Wolcott Senior Center on April 16th.
CT. state president and several original members were there and at least 40 of
our club's present members were there to celebrate with us. Eleven members
went to Nuchies Rest. for District Day on April 23rd. We brought our blue
ribbon winners and they won more blue ribbons. Pat Noble and Rosemary West
won at our club and Pat Noble won two blue ribbons for her photographs at
District Day and now can go on to the State competition in May. April
24th was Federation Day and we raised our Federation Flag at Town Hall with
Mayor Dunn's help. The flag will stay flying for a month, stop by and see it.
May 6th is our installation banquet, May 26th is Memorial Day
Parade and May 31st is Special Games. Looking into June, our annual picnic at
Fran Culver's lake front home will be June 25.
Some of our newer members are asking about our purple shirts.
Mr. Pape at Tops and Tees told me they will cost $15.00 and it will take 7
days to print them. If you want a shirt, please call me at 879-4204 so the
order will go in at one time.
Fran Thornberg has said that the Memorial Day Parade is Monday,
May 26th so please meet behind St. Pius X Church at 5:30 pm. Parade starts
at 6:00 pm and ends at Woodtick Rec. area. Please wear purple club shirts if
you have one or wear red, white and blue.
At District Day we won seven awards. These awards are given
out by our state committee chairs and they get the information from the hours,
activities and dollars you write on your reports to Rosemary West. Rosemary
does a wonderful job of listing and linking all your info. into the proper
departments and writing up her reports. We can be very proud of everything we
do personally and as a club. Keep up the good work.
We certainly owe Fran Culver a BIG HAND for all her work and
dedication during her 2 years as our President. THANK YOU, FRAN.
Fran's message to us is:
Dear Members:
This administration of the Farmingbury Woman's Club will end
with the May banquet. I thank you all for the support you have given me, your
officers and chairwomen. It has truly been an honor to serve as your
President and I hope you will be as supportive to Pat and the new
administration.
In closing, a simple philosophy I have tried to follow:
Do all the good you can
By all the means you can
In all the ways you can
In all the places you can
To all the people you can
As long as ever you can
