HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO YOU ALL ! ! ! ! !
Well, just before I wrote this letter, our new President was sworn in in
Washington, D.C. Let us hope that he will be able to help our great country
become even greater.
Our first meeting of the year was canceled due to snowy weather. Hopefully
we will be able to have our Feb. meeting which is Feb. 3rd.
President Pat reminds us that our Feb. meeting is when we collect Pennies for
Art. We will also be choosing our nominating committee which is made up of 3
board members and 2 from the membership. The nominating committee will present
the new slate of officers at our March meeting. I have enclosed a sheet with
all committees and offices on it. Please fill out any office you would like to
hold and/or any committee you would like to chair or work on. This helps the
nominating committee when selecting our new slate.
Nancy Renner, hope Nancy is feeling better, reminds us that all crafts to be
judged are to be brought to the Feb. 3rd meeting. Please complete a 3"x5" card
for each entry with a detailed description of your entry and on the other side
list our district number (5), Farmingbury Woman's Club of Wolcott, your name,
address and phone number. An arts and crafts category list will be available on
that night. We usually win several blue ribbons so bring your crafts, photos,
etc. to Feb. 3rd meeting and GOOD LUCK. My notes tell me that our speaker will
be Marge Maddalomi.
Rosemary West has been busily doing "reports" all during January. Hopefully
we all reported our committee's events and all our volunteer hours to her. Each
year we win many awards as does an excellent job of reporting the reports. She
will turn them in to state at Jan. 24th state meeting.
The Busy Bees, 15 ladies, met on Jan. 12th at the Library and were very
busy. Lucille Garrigus delivered pillows to St. Mary's and Waterbury Hospitals
and we made more for our next delivery. Busy Bees will meet again on Feb. 23rd
at the Library from 1:00 to 3:00.
We reveled our Secret Pals at our Christmas party and were supposed to pick
new ones at our Jan. meeting. I am enclosing a form you can fill out and bring
to the Feb. meeting or send to me, 41 Patricia Lane, and we will enter you in
the Secret Pal group. It is a lot of fun to get cards during the year and try
to guess who sent them to you.
Pat also reminds us that our state project "Vet's Oasis" is getting help from
the clubs in all the districts of GFWC/CT. Our college is Naugatuck Valley and
the contact person is Catherine Hardy @ 203-575-8167. Furniture is needed to
make the "oasis" comfortable and useable for veterans -- so anyone that has
new chairs, etc and needs to find a home for their old furniture --this is the
place. !!!!!!!!
The bakers for February are Irene Graph, Lucille Garrigus and Evelyn Herron.
Don't forget we will be talking about our fund raiser -- a raffle -- by Pat
Noble and we will be having our Arts and Crafts Fair again this year in October
co-chaired by Mary Kelly and Cathe Sherman.
Our March 3rd meeting will be a potluck supper and social -- with more of
our great cooking.
Please fill out the sheet for officers and committees and also the Secret Pal
slip and bring to the Feb. 3rd meeting.
